Email: info@melangerestaurant.co.uk
Telephone: 020 8341 1681
Website: www.melangerestaurant.co.uk

This policy explains how we use personal information when you visit our website, make a reservation, purchase or receive a gift voucher, contact us or subscribe to promotional emails.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on your interaction with us, we may collect:

  • Your name, email address and telephone number.
  • Reservation details, including the booking date, time, party size and notes.
  • Information provided in enquiries, correspondence and feedback.
  • Gift voucher purchase and redemption details, including purchaser and recipient details, delivery addresses and gift messages.
  • Transaction information needed to administer purchases, refunds and accounting records.
  • Marketing preferences and records of consent or unsubscribing.
  • Technical information generated through website hosting and security services, such as IP addresses and server logs.

We receive information directly from you, through our booking and voucher providers, or from someone making a reservation or purchasing a voucher on your behalf.

Our marketing records may include information collected through our previous booking system, Quandoo, where you opted in to promotions from Mélange.

3. How We Use Your Information

Reservations and gift vouchers

We use relevant details to manage bookings, process voucher orders, arrange delivery, administer redemption and communicate about these services. We rely on performance of a contract or taking steps you request before entering into one.

Where you are a guest or voucher recipient rather than the purchaser, we rely on our legitimate interest in providing the requested service.

Customer service

We use information to respond to enquiries, feedback and complaints. We rely on our legitimate interest in providing customer service, or performance of a contract where the correspondence concerns your booking or purchase.

Legal obligations

We retain and use relevant information to meet applicable tax, accounting and other legal requirements.

Security and disputes

We may use information to investigate suspected misuse, protect our systems and establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We rely on our legitimate interests in protecting our business and customers, or a legal obligation where applicable.

Marketing

We use your contact details with your consent, as explained in section 5.

If you do not provide information necessary for a booking or purchase, we may be unable to complete it.

4. Allergy and Other Health Information

Customers may choose to include allergy or other health information in their reservation notes. Mélange staff may view these notes and use them only to help prepare and serve the relevant booking safely. The information is provided through SevenRooms, and SevenRooms stores it in the reservation system.

5. Promotional Emails

We occasionally send promotional emails about Mélange Restaurant’s news, offers and events to people who have opted in, including through SevenRooms or our previous booking system, Quandoo.

We use your name and email address for this purpose and rely on your consent. Making a reservation alone does not sign you up for promotional emails.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe option in each promotional email or by contacting info@melangerestaurant.co.uk. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

You have the right to object to direct marketing at any time.

We do not send promotional text messages. Necessary service emails, including booking confirmations and voucher delivery messages, are separate from promotional emails.

6. Sharing Your Information

Where necessary for the purposes described in this policy, relevant information may be shared with:

  • SevenRooms, our online reservation provider.
  • Giftpro, our online gift voucher provider.
  • Payment service providers involved in transactions.
  • Providers supporting website hosting, email delivery and IT services.
  • Professional advisers where needed for accounting, advice or legal claims.
  • Authorities where disclosure is required by law.

Providers may process information on our behalf or be independently responsible for certain uses. Their own privacy notices explain their practices:

7. International Transfers

SevenRooms, Giftpro and other service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Their own privacy policies explain where they process information and the safeguards they use. See the links in section 6 for further information.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information for as long as necessary for its purpose, taking account of legal requirements and outstanding disputes.

We determine retention periods by considering:

  • Whether a booking, enquiry or complaint has been completed or resolved.
  • Whether a voucher remains valid and whether related refunds or disputes remain outstanding.
  • Applicable accounting and tax record-keeping requirements.
  • Whether information is needed for an existing or reasonably anticipated legal claim.
  • Whether a marketing subscription remains active and the information remains relevant.
  • Whether technical records are needed to investigate security incidents.

When you unsubscribe, we retain the minimum information needed to record and respect your marketing preference.

Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We do not use Google Analytics or Meta/Facebook tracking on our own website. We do not use additional analytics or advertising cookies on our own website. The booking and voucher services may use cookies that are strictly necessary for their functions. Please refer to the relevant provider policies for information about their technologies.

10. Your Rights

Depending on the circumstances, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information.
  • Ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected.
  • Request deletion or restriction of processing.
  • Receive certain information in a portable format or request its transfer.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular circumstances. Your right to object to direct marketing is absolute.

These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions.

Contact info@melangerestaurant.co.uk to exercise your rights. We may request information necessary to verify your identity.
